LIIAR Analysis.

Language.
My Music magazine is based in an Indie Genre. Therefore it should use the conventions which are reflected in stereotypical Indie Music Magazines. These consists of the use of imagery, making sure the people used in my photo’s follow the stereotypical Indie style, this will be created by specific use of props, costumes, lighting and overall appearance. Also my magazine will have to include a mast-head, a tag line and context, also my magazine has to have a contents page, therefore it will have to include a wide range of written format  and layout.

Institution.
Music magazines progress through a company name, for example Kerrang.
This is how the magazines are known, and how editors make money. The company names are the main institution for the magazines, however these companies are then owned by bigger companies such as IPC or BAUER.
Seeing as I am using the conventions of these music magazine, this makes these companies my rivalries, therefore rather than looking at which conventions this use; I need to adapt them further into my own work to make mine individual.

Ideology.
The aim of my music magazine is to introduce new bands to my target audience, and to influence readers on the genre.
I will need to compete with existing music magazines which follow my 'Indie' genre such as NME. I will do this by not only using recent, popular bands, but by also introducing my own. This will make the readers want to purchase or read my magazine as they want to hear about this new band in which is not advertised anywhere else.

Audience.
My magazine will be aimed at a younger audience, due to the genre as Indie is usually directed at teenagers, NME's audience is 13-24 year olds, therefore I will need to compete with a similar age range.
Not only will it be aged to the age group, but mainly the male gender, as approximately 74% of males read music magazines, which leaves only a small 26% of females. Therefore I will be using male models for my images, however my magazine will not be sexist, and will also appeal and relate to a female audience.

Representation.
My magazine needs to represent today’s Music, introducing new bands and reflecting new talent.
It also needs to represent the ways in which media productions such as magazine editors/designers advertise their work throughout the use of connotation and denotations.
